Back when the High Lords of Terra received news of Schrödinger's Cataclysm, they were extremely concerned. Far more concerned in fact than Governor Schrödinger realised when he was granted his Warrant of Trade. Unbeknown to the new Rogue Trader and his benefactors, the mighty Adeptus Custodes simultaneously launched their own investigation into the pleasure world's disappearance, relieving the Brethren of the Tenebrous Shield of their Terran duties until the matter be settled. 

For some time, the Brethren of the Tenebrous Shield conducted their investigation in parallel with Lord Schrödinger but without his knowledge. However, finding they had made no progress by the time of his death, the Brethren deigned to made their mighty presence known to his successor. Without warning the Custodes' magnificent, black-gold frigate appeared from the warp and attached itself to Schrödinger's battlefleet.

Exactly why such illustrious imperial servants should take an interest in Schrödinger's mysterious Cataclysm is a mystery, but surely indicates that the secrets of Barfunweltz-2 are precious indeed.

Anax

This Shield-Company of the Brethren of the Tenebrous Shield comprises a few Custodian Guards accompanied by a squad of Sisters of Silence. Mere mortals are not worthy to know the true names of the Adeptus Custodes so they only allow themselves to be identified with high gothic numerals. The names of the Sisters of the Tenebrous Shield remain unuttered by anyone.

Sisters of the Tenebrous Shield

The Brotherhood of the Tenebrous Shield is nothing if not intimidating and it is to Lady Schrödinger's credit that she handled the sudden appearance of a detachment of Adeptus Custodes with poise and grace - just as her father would have done. To have such a war party attached to her armada is a boon indeed and she instructed Commissioner Piran to accept their offer of assistance with the much-needed reorganisation and retraining of the Barfunweltz-2 PDF.
