XIV - Atavists

Within the refugee fleet, away from the Watch, Inquisitors, Sororitas and all the protective provisions in place on Barfunweltz-2, the followers of Slaanesh have quietly grown. While some cult members remain hidden in plain sight, others have retreated into the darkness of starships' seldom-visited hulls and hangers. Surrounded by clouds of sickly incense smoke, the sybarites practice their depraved rituals and surrender themselves to the daemons they worship, thus empowering their infernal masters.

Addicted both to hallucinogenic vapours and to the depravities they practice under their influence, some cultists have joyfully volunteered themselves to become possessed by warp entities, their bodies mutating into disturbing parodies of beauty. Hideous appendages such as hands resembling crustaceans' pincers or avian feet are lauded as great blessings, while the most prized goal of their worship is to be transformed into the blasphemous likeness of the 'Holy Cow'.

These daemons like to be known by their followers as the 'Bane of Barfunweltz'. Whether they are truly responsible for Schrödinger's Cataclysm remains unproven, but should their power continue to grow they certainly represent an existential threat to Schrödinger's Syndicate and its mission.
