XII - Catchers

Barfunweltz-2 had been successfully protected from the taint of Chaos by an extensive network of Ordo Hereticus Witch Hunters and Adepta Sororitas supported by a specialist branch of Barfunweltz-2's Arbites known as The Watch. Because the remit of these agencies was centred around activities on the planet itself, their agents rarely had cause to leave the pleasure world. Consequently, without ready access to spacecraft, it was largely only those individuals bearing the authority of an Inquisitor's seal who managed to escape Schrödinger's Cataclysm. 

Those Inquisitorial agents and Sororitas who did escape into orbit were immediately recalled by their off-world superiors. They were then thoroughly debriefed to discern whether they had uncovered any intelligence which could have averted, or at least predicted, the disappearance of Barfunweltz-2. Yet despite intensive questioning by some of the Inquisition's most meticulous interrogation specialists, no such intelligence appears to have been unearthed. Perhaps the planet’s resident Ordo Hereticus operatives were not at fault. Nevertheless, not one of them has been seen since.

The only members of The Watch to escape the Cataclysm were those who happened to be conducting customs checks on orbiting vessels at the fateful moment. Most prominent among them is Proctor Hastings and his squad. Knowing his reputation as not only a zealous law-enforcer, but a thorough and intelligent detective, Governor Schrödinger appointed his unit to lead the refugee fleet's internal investigation into the Cataclysm.

The Watch is an ancient Arbites force with a distinct identity and proud traditions. Much of their garb and equipment may appear eccentric and archaic to some, but centuries of experience working alongside the Inquisition has honed them into a thorough and ruthless force in the maintenance of order, previously on Barfunweltz-2 and now among the nomadic fleet. 

Nonetheless, thus far in their investigation into Schrödinger's Cataclysm, they have followed many leads but made little progress.

These models are sufficient for a co-opted Arbites detachment accompanying an Inquisitorial Agents Kill Team. In due course I intend to build enough to field a stand-alone Exaction Squad.
