XIX - Chitin

Right at the edge of Imperial space, the Syndicate visited a remote space hulk known as The Five Cyloneans. Schrödinger's inner circle had fabricated a rumour that it might harbour some clues regarding the fate of Barfunweltz-2, intending to distract the various Imperial Investigators from the precariously sensitive reality.
However, Schrödinger's plan almost led to disaster when the Marlinspikes discovered that the ancient craft was in fact infested with genestealers. A few good navy breachers lost their lives, and the Rogue Trader was forced to leave others behind to avoid risking the genetic contamination of her nomadic fleet.

Data gathered by the Marlinspikes identified the genestealers as an advance reconnaissance force from Hive Fleet Quernoh, a splinter of the dreaded Hive Fleet Leviathan. Reluctantly, Lady Schrödinger reported the incident to the Ordo Xenos. This was the last Imperial agency whose attention she wanted to attract, but not to have done so would have aroused far too much suspicion from her fellow travellers. In the future, she would be considerably more circumspect regarding distractions and ruses.
I recently reacquired a copy of GW's Space Hulk board game which I had painted for a friend back in 2011. It was very easy to fashion some removable bases so they can double up as a Hive Fleet kill team.
